Obama Screws Up With New “Still” Ad
In his new ad, Barack Obama criticizes John McCain for being “out of touch.”
Here’s a link to the ad on YouTube:
A couple of examples that the ad provides to portray a negative image of John McCain is that he still doesn’t know how to use a computer and that he can’t send an email. Wow…how could that be? From an 8-year old Forbes article:
His nightly ritual is to read his email together with his wife, Cindy. The injuries he incurred as a Vietnam POW make it painful for McCain to type. Instead, he dictates responses that his wife types on a laptop. “She’s a whiz on the keyboard, and I’m so laborious,” McCain admits.
Oops! Karl Rove pointed this out in an interview today with Fox News while asserting that both campaigns have gone too far in some of their ads. The Obama campaign responded with this:
“In case anyone was still wondering whether John McCain is running the sleaziest, most dishonest campaign in history, today Karl Rove -– the man who held the previous record -– said McCain’s ads have gone too far,” said Obama campaign spokesman Tommy Vietor.
That’s honorable. I guess it slipped his mind to apologize for indirectly insulting McCain’s war injuries. And the ad is still on the Obama campaign site, so I guess they choose to stand by it. McCain is apparently still the one running the “sleaziest” campaign, though.
Worth nothing is that contrary to this ad, the Forbes article also says that McCain is “regarded as the U.S. Senate’s savviest technologist.” Of course this was in 2000, but maybe he’s not as out of touch as Obama’s campaign would like us to think? Either way, I’d be much more comfortable with a president who has minimal computer experience than one who lacks any executive experience.
