“Call in Gay” Day?

I just saw this ridiculous story on FOXNews.com…

Some same-sex marriage supporters are urging people to “call in gay” Wednesday to show how much the country relies on gays and lesbians, but others question whether it’s wise to encourage skipping work given the nation’s economic distress.

In response, I am going to urge employers to fire anyone who does so to show how much the country relies on hard workers. I definitely agree with the second part of that, though. What a great time to pick… There are people out there who need jobs and these losers are urging people to shrug theirs off for the day to be gay.

Oh, and check out this from the “Day Without a Gay” web site:

BUT I CAN’T CALL IN AT WORK ON 12/10 OR I’LL GET FIRED!
If you live in one of the 30 states where individuals can still be fired simply for being gay or lesbian, there are still plenty of ways that you can lend a hand and a voice in our fight for gay equality–without missing work.

Notice how they make it into a discrimination issue?  They wouldn’t be firing you for calling in for BS inexcusable reasons…it would be simply because you’re GAY!!!  Hopefully employers will take a stand against this absurdity and give their jobs to deserving people.  Just be prepared for all the discrimination lawsuits if you do.

ha ha ha ha ah aha ha fire them all for not coming to work. i don’t care if it was national “call in manly” day. We all know how I feel about manliness (manliness is next to godliness) but if we were going to call in manly and not come to work just to show how hard the world would be without manly men i would want all of them to be fired, cause not going to work just to prove a point to people who don’t give a fuck isn’t very manly, its…well for lack of a better word…GAY!

This sounds very similar to that “documentary”(?) that was made a couple of years ago about “A Day without Mexicans.” Consider this. If our immigration rules, border crossing laws, and legal citizen employment laws were being enforced wouldn’t we have enough jobs in this country to provide work for the many unemployed citizens we have now? If it didn’t provide for everyone, it would be very close.

Oh yeah, you were talking about Gay Day. The only city I can think of that would be greatly effected is San Francisco, and that would probably improve things. I know a day without Rosie O’Donnell on the airwaves makes the whole world much better. So I think I might want to support this day for the benefit of the majority.

I’m sure it would be a lot worse for us all if we had a “call in straight day”. Would that mean that straight people are more important than gays? According to them it would, right?

Haha, yep. You have demonstrated the key strategy in defeating liberals in most arguments: simple logic.

As for what you said, Jonathan, I agree. San Francisco probably would be the most affected by this with a gay population of around 15%. I would predict the worst that could happen there tomorrow would be that you can’t find a single open book store or coffee shop. And of course the very gay areas of town may be completely shut down, but who is that going to prove anything to? The only people that will really affect will be the gays. It will be a lesson in self-importance for them.

Also, the airwaves are indeed a much better place without Rosie. That’s why her new variety show was canceled after the first episode, which had only about 5 million viewers. The nation spoke. Now hopefully she’ll go away for good.
